“It is the reality that batches A and B of 2016 and 2017 respectively were disengaged since the appointment of Sadiya Farouk, and more than 14,000 exited beneficiaries have been denied five-month stipends.

“And there is no development of any policy to address the Youth Empowerment in Nigeria since Sadiya Farouk was appointed to manage NPower. She keeps deceiving us about the package.

“We want Sadiya Farouk to be queried as a matter of urgency, and that is why we are mobilizing for the protest across the nation since she and other officials in her ministry have refused to honor our demands.”

“One of the victims, Patrick Mayor, who lent his voice to the protest, said, “Sadiya must go should be the slogan of all the disengaged NPower beneficiaries.

“We are ready for the protest and our future lies in our hands. We served our Fatherland diligently and actively two times. Why should our future be toyed with?”

As September 20th draws near, the batch A and B disengaged volunteers of 2016 and 2017 batches will, in mass storm the Federal Capital City of Abuja demanding the Nexit Package, payment of 5 months stipends for volunteers, and an immediate sack of the Umar Sadiya Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management

SaharaReporters learned that aggrieved volunteers have sworn not to give in with their quest of fighting for their right as citizens, as all is set for massive demonstration come 20th of September 2021

The protest will be for a full week, commencing from Monday, the 20th of September, through Friday the 24th of the same month

One striking point of the protest will be the Nexit CBN loan package plan, over 500, 000 were promised loans, yet no action to back it up from the side of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management

“Disengaged NPower beneficiaries have said they will embark on a one-week nationwide protest to press home their demands of the non-payment of their five-month stipends of N14,000 by the Nigerian government among other grievances”-SaharaReporters, New York Sep 15, 2021

Volunteers Have Sort Police Permission for the Protest

Volunteers have already sort police permission and injunction to press on with the protest, there will be no need to be afraid of harassment or intimidation from a law enforcement agency

All our protests and activities during the protest must be PEACEFUL, however, the Nigeria Police Force, has given some “precautions and No-go areas”:

  • No weapon(s) is allowed in areas of protest
  • No destruction of public properties
  • No use of ill words or tantrums
  • Volunteers Must come with ID card and must wear Facemask
  • There shall be no fireworks
  • No meddling with opposition parties

Some Media Houses Have Been Contacted

“A Freelance journalist that has a connection with AIT and Thisday Newspaper were reached for wider outreach.

Some copies of the Open Letter, Handbill, and flyer have been given to them; all assurance of proper coverage was made

SAHARA REPORTER and other media outlets have promised to air our protest also.

Uniforms and Identity Card Must be used

All Volunteers must wear N-power uniforms (Npower Uniforms and Caps) and an ID card must be in all volunteers’ possessions

There may likely be Revolution protests from other groups; this will differentiate Npower volunteers from other protesters

Npower State Executive will brief volunteers on this and other preparations and warnings
