Npower Program: ICPC Grills D’banj for Fraudulently Diverting Funds: The ICPC on Wednesday arrested one of Nigeria’s finest afrobeat, hip-hop, pop, and R&B musicians, Mr. Oladipo Daniel Oyebanjo aka D’Banj. He has been accused of Fraudulently Diverting Funds running into billions
Mr. Oladipo Daniel Oyebanjo is the brand ambassador of the Npower Batch C stream 1 program, to this end, he has some degree of control over payment or cash-related payment to over 500,000 beneficiaries of the Federal Government Npower program
The Npower program was created to provide jobs and empowerment to millions of Nigerian youths, but corruption and mismanagement are making the program not achieve its set goal
“In line with its mandate, the Commission had received numerous petitions on the diversion of N-Power funds running into billions of naira following the approval and release of such funds to the beneficiaries by the Federal Government. Many N-Power beneficiaries had complained over the non-receipt of the monthly funds in spite of payment by the Government.”-ICPC
Over 10 persons were invited by the ICPC a few months ago in connection with the N-Power fraud, and have been granted administrative bail after their detention.
