University Waterloo scholarship Application requirements
Visit our website and follow all instructions carefully.
Qualifying students will be emailed with information regarding the next steps. Please ensure you have an active email address on your application.
Finalists will be required to complete a short interview via Skype or Google Hangouts, as well as write a short essay about why they deserve a scholarship from UW.
Scholarship recipients must maintain good academic standing, remain in good standing with their respective university/college, meet deadlines set by UW, and must agree to attend UW in September 2023 if awarded a scholarship.
Show your passion
Showcasing your passion and enthusiasm in a personal statement is one of the best ways to increase your chances of getting scholarships.
Keep in mind that universities want students who will contribute positively to their student community, as well as their particular program or department. You can demonstrate you’ll fit right in by showing how your experience or skills match up with what they’re looking for.
You can also let them know how much you look forward to being part of that community by sharing why you chose that school above all others.
Some students think they don’t stand a chance of getting a scholarship, but it’s important to remember that many scholarships aren’t highly competitive. In fact, if you apply for any scholarships at all, chances are you will get some.
Even if you only have time or energy to apply for one or two per year, that can make a difference in how much your degree ends up costing.
You could even decide after your first year to see if there are any funding opportunities available for graduate school! The worst thing that can happen is hearing back from them and finding out you didn’t get it so go ahead and give it a shot!
