The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has announced that the Dangote refinery, which has a nameplate capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, is now 95% complete.
The refinery investment is worth more than 25 billion US dollars.
The refinery will start operations in mid-2023 and at full production, will process 650,000 barrels of crude oil daily, which corresponds to 50 million liters of petrol and 17 m liters of diesel daily, as well as aviation fuel and plastic products.
The refinery is situated on a 6,180 acres (2,500 hectares) site at the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos State.
It is supplied with crude oil by the largest sub-sea pipeline infrastructure in the world (1,100 km long).
Dangote refinery will be Africa’s biggest oil refinery and the world’s biggest single-train oil facility.
