Npower: 1,500 Volunteers Sacked and 3 months Unpaid Stipend

GROUP CALLS FOR INDEPENDENT ENQUIRY OVER 5,000 BENEFICIARIES LIST CLAIM

Npower: 1,500 Volunteers Sacked and 3 months Unpaid Stipend:The none-graduate category of the n-power programme, which encompasses of N-build, N-tech, N-software volunteers have been left in the dark. See http://myeduproject.com.ng/npower-permanency-movedrop-your-signature-as-bill-goes-next-reading

For the past three (3) months, stipends have not been paid them, a question no one is responding to, leaving volunteers to question the future of the programme

“We have been left to our fate and hoping in silence to no avail when our monthly Stipends will be paid since January till date until the recent release on slack and Twitter handle of Npower that over 1,500 Beneficiaries of our stipend have been stopped last year December 2019”- N-build, N-tech, N-software volunteers

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Umar Sadiyat Farouq is yet to address the matter. See http://myeduproject.com.ng/npower-reps-fault-nsip-implementation-blamed-umar-farouq-sadiya

The constant delay is now out of control; from one month arrears to three months without any one tell volunteers what the problem is, to this end, volunteers of the said programmes are seeking for clarification from Ministry of Humanitarian Service and Disaster Management

Thus; “In view of the above we seek clarification from the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Humanitarian Service and Disaster Management as well as NSIP whose Npower activities is coordinated to tell us if the 1,500 Beneficiaries of Ncreative are part of the 5,000 Npower Beneficiaries FG pays monthly stipend till April 2020.”- N-build, N-tech, N-software Volunteers

On like their counterpart in the graduate category whose stipend is 30,000 naira each, the None graduate (Nbuild, Ntech, Nsoftware) category are paid N10, 000 stipends monthly, yet owned three months

Promises Not Honored

Volunteers also lament against Empty promises made to them but never saw the light of the day, the vocational programmes promised:

  • Two internship training that never came to reality, the internship training was meant guide volunteers on the skills involved in vocational
  • Certificate of completion are yet to be given
  • A trip to china  (best volunteers)
  • The promise to attach Beneficiaries to establish studios or working outfit to continue skills learnt were not done
  • Laptops and 6months payment of N10,000

“Furthermore, Ncreative training which we were enlisted for, did not go through the much publicized manner as portrayed in the media such that our camp training was less practical work because we were only given working gadget a week to the closure of the camp out of the one month used which made many Beneficiaries less handlers of these tools.” N-build, N-tech, N-software volunteers
