NPF: IGP Adamu Retires On Monday- No successor announced: The Inspector-General of Police Mohammed A. Adamu, will on Monday bows out as the Inspector-General of the Nigerian Police Force, with no immediate replacement at hand
Mr. Mohammed A. Adamu joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1986 and has reached his 35 years in service to the nation, as is due to retire
With no insight on who to replace him, the Louis Edet House, headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has been in an uncertain and a confused state
No one knows if his tenure will be extended, as all pendulum is swinging in that direction, this is because, retiring IGPs is usually occasioned by huge ceremonies on their last day in office.
But sources at the Police Headquarters say there are no such plans yet for the outgoing police boss.
The Police Act, signed by President Muhammadu Buhari last year, pegs the retirement age of police officers at 60 years of age or 35 years of service.
“Section 18 (cool of the new Act states: Every police officer shall, on recruitment or appointment, serve in the Nigeria Police Force for 35 years or until the age of 60 years, whichever is earlier.”
