N-Power Failed Protest: Volunteers Fault Gobir’s Leadership In 4 Ways

N-Power Failed Protest: Volunteers Fault Gobir’s Leadership In 4 Ways: The March 31st N-power protest was not materialist due to many reasons, and the entire disengaged volunteers have faulted and blamed the office of the National President of the Nexit programme, Mr. Gobir

Volunteers also accused Gobir’s Stewardship, Honesty and Integrity regarding his office, while others accused him or siding with the Humanitarian Minister, others described him as incompetent and myopic to the plight of volunteers

The aim of the protest is plea with the Federal Government and the head of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, to fulfil their promise regarding the Nexit CBN loan Affiliate programmes

The Federal Government through the Office of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development made a promise of inculcating a CBN loan programme, where disengaged volunteers will get loan and start Small and Medium Term Related Businesses

“A Portal that will enable Exited N-Power Beneficiaries to apply for Central Bank of Nigeria Empowerment Options has been launched by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development”

“The platform which was developed in collaboration with the CBN will enable Exited N-Power Beneficiaries to log on and apply for the various Economic, Empowerment and Entrepreneurship options provided by the CBN”

“The NEXIT portal is to determine the suitability of the beneficiaries for the CBN affiliated programs and is dependent on meeting the criteria and conditions set by the CBN for the said programs”

“The Minister also emphasized that the NEXIT PORTAL will determine the suitability of the beneficiaries for the CBN affiliated programs”

The Protest is also aimed at pleading with the authorities to pay all the 14,200 volunteers flagged by GIFMIS last year

Payments of over 14, 200 Unpaid Volunteers from the Month of March to July, 2020 must begin immediately as all documents needed for this has been supplied by the volunteers last year

The failure of the March31st protest was as a result of poor stewardship structure of Mr. Gobir on various fronts

The Media Was Not Carried Along

There are many national dailies, but no single media outlet was engaged, the Npower national president failed to use any of the national dailies or main stream media to air the protest.

Even digital and social media platforms were not engaged in the protest. Volunteers faulted the unpreparedness and lack of insight of Gobir’s office, citing competencies and ignorance in information dissemination via the use of both digital and main stream media

No Team Work Among Gobir and His Executives/ Representatives

The Protest also failed due to little or no team work in Mr. Gobir’s administration, was it perversity he longed to team-up with his 36 states Executives and Representatives? What hope lies in secrecy if Gobir cannot coordinate his team to produce the much needed support?

Gobir’s office will be ineffective if he is not in total control of all the 36 states Executives and Representatives, the 36 states Executives and Representatives are the pillar of his office, they must be effective and efficient in the discharge of their duties within their respective states

Lack Of Fund

The office of the National President of the Npower has not donation or fund to cater for all the expenses needed to embark on protest. Although volunteers are not taxed, but there should be means of fund raising for the programme to enhance its effective and purpose

Political Sentiment Some volunteers also accused Gobir of being sentimental to the APC-led government, showing remorse to the Buhari administration. Since the President is from the North, some volunteers in some Northern States are refusing to partake in the Npower protest; so as to not to make Buhari’s Government look bad and incompetent
