Link to Apply for National Blood Service Commission Recruitment 2023: The National Blood Service Commission (NBSC) is the government institution charged with the responsibility of regulating, coordinating, and providing safe, adequate and quality blood and blood products for transfusion in a cost-effective manner to all who may require it in Nigeria with an emphasis on voluntary non-remunerated blood donation in order to save lives across the country.
History of National Blood Service Commission (NBSC)
The operations of the National Blood Service Commission (NBSC) commenced in 2005 as National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS), by means of a multilateral partnership between the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) and the United States Government (USG) through the United States (U.S) President’s Emergency Fund for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
The legal framework that established the NBTS is the National Health Act (NHAct) of 2014, which in Section Vi, Sub-section 47-53, and provides for the creation of NBTS as follows “The Minister shall establish a National Blood Transfusion Service for the Federation.” The National Blood Service Commission (NBSC) bill was signed into law on the 29th of July 2021. Key Functions & Accountabilities
Reliable and safe driving services for staff and officials
Drives office vehicles for the transport of UN staff, officials, visitors and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items
Meets official personnel and visitors at the airport and may assist with basic visa and customs formalities and arrangements when required.
Maintenance of assigned vehicle
Ensures vehicle is kept in good running condition at all times through addressing minor repairs, making arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, water levels, and car washing.
Documentation of vehicle related information.
Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle; keeps track of insurance and other tax formalities.
Core Skills Required:
Ability to deal patiently and tactfully with visitors
High sense of confidentiality, initiative and good judgment
Ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural background
Good knowledge of the city, local roads and conditions where the office is located
Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies
Skills in minor vehicle repairs
