How to Pass NPF Medical Screening | Important Things to Note

How to Pass NPF Medical Screening | Important Things to Note: The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is conducting its Medical Screening/assessments for shortlisted candidates, and this will be another avenue where some of the shortlisted candidates will be reduced to pave way for the required number

Shortlisted candidates will be required to report themselves in their designated medical assessment center for the screening. If you are one of the shortlisted candidates for medical assessment, you won’t like to throw your chances away carelessly

This post will give you details on what to expect, and how to be successful in the fourth coming NPF medical assessment, make absolutely certain you read to the end

What is involved in the Medical Assessment?

NPF medical screening is not new, it is a norm that have existed for long, and it is done to select the most fit among all, the NPF screening involved fitness test, a confidential health declaration and a comprehensive medical assessment.

As a candidate for this screening, this is not what you should fear, rather it is an opportunity to know how fit you are,

NPF will be checking;

Urinalysis (urine test)

Spirometry (lung capacity test)

Hearing and eyesight checks

Checking your height, weight and Body Mass Index (BMI)

A musculoskeletal assessment

Blood pressure check

Pre-existing health condition

If you have an existing health condition, e.g. asthma or diabetes, Hiv, you won’t be disqualified, make sure your condition is well managed

You will be required to complete a health questionnaire signed by your parents, or guidance, covering your current and past physical and mental health history.

What Is Involved In The NPF Fitness Test?

NPF fitness test is intended to assess whether you have the stamina needed to be a police officer, not an Olympic athlete.

It involves a multi-stage shuttle run, also known as the ‘bleep test’, which is a physical test of your aerobic capacity (stamina).

It involves running between two points that are 15 meters apart (a “shuttle”).

The pace of each shuttle is synchronized with a pre-recorded audio tape that bleeps at set intervals – and speeds up during the test.

It can be challenging – after all, police officers need to be fit to do their job well. However, as long as you are reasonably fit and have prepared enough in advance, you should be fine.

How to Pass the Bleep Test

The ‘bleep test’ takes 3 minutes and 35 seconds and is made up of 35, 15 metre shuttles between two points.

Your running speed will start at 7.9kph and will increase to 9.9kph. The idea is to reach the other side before the next bleep.

You should focus on exercise activities that will increase your cardiovascular fitness.

Regular runs are a great way to build up your heart lung capacity and your leg muscles.

More Things to Note

Start your training exercise two weeks before the test to build your endurance and stamina.

If you have not being training (jogging, running other aerobatic exercises) please don’t start in a rush, start slowly and build up the length and intensity of your training sessions.

Always warm up and stretch before exercising. And don’t forget to cool down properly.
