Despite continued delay and defiance by the Humanitarian Ministry, Volunteers not paid for 5 months still have hope of being paid, as the Office of Accountant General of the Federation and the Humanitarian Ministry is on the situation, a source at NSIP Explained on Wednesday, the 8th of September 2021  

The five months owed stipends is a matter that cannot be swift under the carpet, as EFCC and other anti-graft agencies, media houses are keeping an eagle eye on the situation

Sahara reporters, an online investigative news outlet exposed so many controversies surrounding the situation, pointing out key leadership failures and lack of transparency and in the side of the Humanitarian Minister-Umar Sadiya Farouk

Over 14,200 affected volunteers have submitted their credentials and bank statements, these documents are undergoing manual re-verification and authentication- the Source also added

“From the consolidated list of beneficiaries we received from the OAGF in September, the 14,200 beneficiaries with arrears of stipend were flagged for receiving a monthly payment from other MDAs, particularly from the NYSC

“It is possible that the 14,200 beneficiaries used their NYSC allowance bank accounts for N-Power and GIFMIS payment platform picked them for double payment.

“We have initiated State verification process with State N-Power Focal Officers”

Umar Sadiya Farouq, the current minister of the Humanitarian Ministry has limited capacity to play in this process, the NExit CBN loan package, promised to  500,000 disengaged volunteers may be far from being achieved- A  source added

 “I consider it necessary to give a status update regarding the NExit Loan status of N-power cohorts from Batch A and B,”

“From the outset, the N-Power programme was designed to run for 24 months

“Out of the 500,000 combined beneficiaries from Batch A and B, we promised a robust plan to engage both batches CBN loan package and other economic ventures, but we also added “patience” as our watchword  

 “all exited beneficiaries are advised to exercise more patience and await the result of the efforts being made by the Honorable Minister who is currently engaging various MDAs including the CBN and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to ensure that the eligible exited beneficiaries are transited to government progammes or even employment where available”

Disengaged volunteers are not giving in to these promises, as they may turn out to be empty, just like others

Over 500,000 batch A and B enrollees of the Npower program were disengaged with the promise of providing them with various loan options, to access businesses

A NExit Portal was opened for volunteers to show interest last November 2020, but nothing was said about it, hence the September 20th protest

Aim of the Pretest

  • The protest is gear towards persuading the office of the Humanitarian Minister alongside the Federal Government to execute the Nexit CBN programme as soon as possible, 500,000 exited beneficiaries remained desperate for not getting loans promised after opening the Nexit CBN loan portal 9 months ago
  • To pay up over 14,000 disengaged volunteers their 5 months owed stipends without any delay. They are owing 14,200 beneficiaries five months’ stipend but Sadiya Farouq keeps mute after making numerous promises without fulfilment
  • Fastract Batch C stream1 and 2 recruitment process without delay and political inculcation, batch C recruitment process is the longest and most delayed recruitment since the npower programme started. This must end 

“Npower Batch A and B who were engaged 2016 and 2017 respectively were disengaged since May 2020.

“While she launched another portal for exited Npower beneficiaries to apply for their exit package which the Federal government promised to give all the exited beneficiaries after serving for about three years.

The protest has been scheduled to take place as 20th of September, 2021; all the states executives are coordinating volunteers to storm Abuja same date
