AFA Agriculture Career/Academic & Leader Development Scholarships 2024: AFA builds bridges for young leaders to foster engagement and innovation in food and agriculture through premier leader and career development experiences.
With program participation increasing by 28% in the last five years, AFA has provided 26,000 leader development experiences to college leaders and young professionals from more than 200 colleges and universities throughout 43 states since its inception in 1996.
AFA has awarded more than $11 million in academic and leader development scholarships;
To shape transformational leaders in food and agriculture who make a positive impact
Foster professionalism, entrepreneurialism and intellectualism
Through programs that promote professional development, career exploration, and networking
The agriculture, food, and natural resources industries — from small farms to multinational corporations
AFA Agriculture Career, Academic, and Leader Development Scholarships for 2024, applicants can apply for Agriculture Future of America AFA Leader Institutes or its scholarships offers
Eligibility Requirements
Students must meet the following guidelines while adhering to the AFA program policies.
Intention to pursue a career in the food, agriculture, and natural resources industries
Preference for selection will be given to new Institute applicants
Current undergraduate student
Age 17-25*
2.5 GPA or higher (recommended)
Passion for food, agriculture and natural resources
Scholarship Policy
The AFA scholarship will not cover room and board expenses.
Scholars must request funds while enrolled as full-time students.
Funds are dissolved after completion of a bachelor’s degree; if not requested before graduation, or if proof of balance owed is insufficient.
Scholars must attend the entire AFA Leaders Conference in the year awarded to receive scholarship funds.
The AFA scholarship is a one-time scholarship.
Scholars must request funds by providing a copy of university tuition, fees, or books (if billed through the university) that demonstrate an outstanding balance or which has been otherwise paid by loans or personal payments for such charges to AFA.
Student must continue to meet the following eligibility requirements:
Scholars must request funds while enrolled as a full-time student
Remain in good academic standing with the university
Maintain full-time class status
Pursue a bachelor’s degree
Study agriculture or a related field

AFA FAQ
Who can apply?
Graduating high school seniors and current undergrads enrolled in an agriculture or food-related degree program in the U.S. See the full eligibility requirements.
How much money is granted?
Awards vary between $1,600 and $3,250. All scholarships include admission to the AFA Leaders Conference (excluding travel).
How are applications evaluated?
Recipients will be selected based on their career goals, leadership and community involvement, and financial need. Some scholarships will be awarded based on specific criteria, for example, living in a particular community area.
When do I hear back?
Scholarships will be announced in early June.

Make sure your school information is up to date. If you’ve filled out an application on our site before, it will pre-populate your information. If you’ve changed your major or switched schools, we want to know that.
