774,000 Job Recruitment Starts On Shaky Note: States Not Ready: On Tuesday, the 5th of January 2021, the Federal Government 774,000 Special Public Works Programme continued on a shaky ground, some states were not properly informed, the NDE state structures ware not already to spear head the programme due to insufficient information
The Programme was suspended last year by the senate due to grey areas not cleared by the the Minister of state for employment
“The Ogun State Chairman of the Special Works Scheme of the Federal Government, Senator Gbenga Obadara and the Gombe State coordinator of NDE, Hassan Mustapha, said there was no instruction yet to begin the programme in the state”.
Obadara, who spoke with one of our correspondents on the phone, said the committee had not been asked to commence any work on the scheme. The Chairman of the committee in the state, who was away in abroad as of the time of speaking, said he did not know what direction the scheme was taking”.
“There is no direction, no instruction yet. They are just running the adverts. How it is going to happen and when it is going to happen; I don’t know as the chairman. ”
President Muhammadu Buhari approved the take off of the Special Public Works Programme (engaging 774,000 unemployed itinerant Nigerians) to begin nationwide on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021

“The programme, designed for artisans to do public works for three months for N20,000 per month, suffered setbacks in commencement date because of internal wrangling between the minister and a former Director – General of the National Directorate of Employment, Nasir Ladan, who was sacked last week by President Muhammadu Buhari”
The programme aimed at employing 1,000 persons per Local Government Areas in Nigeria, in all the 774,000. Each persons will be Paid N20, 000 for 90 days.
